Dominican Republic to be included on president's itinerary

Taipei, Jan. 19 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou will include Dominican Republic on the itinerary of his upcoming visit to Central America and the Caribbean, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Tuesday.
The ministry said in a press release that Ma will attend the inauguration of Honduran President-elect Porfiro Lobo Sosa Jan. 27 and then travel the following day to the Dominican Republic, which shares aborder with quake-ravaged Haiti, for a brief visit.
According to the plan, Ma will meet with Dominican Republic President Leonel Antonio Fernandez Reyna for talks on how to help with post-quake construction and the resettlement of quake victims in Haiti.
The president's plane will also carry several containers of medical and relief supplies for the Haitian people.
The ministry said Ma will leave Taiwan Jan. 25 and travel to Honduras via San Francisco, returning to Taiwan Jan. 30 via Los Angeles.
The members of his delegation will include Vice Legislative Speaker Tseng Yung-chuan, officials from the MOFA, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Council of Agriculture and the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission, as well as C.V. Chen, president of the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China.
