Slovenia offers mediation in Macedonia name spat

Slovenia has offered to mediate the 19-year-old name dispute between Greece and Macedonia that has led Athens to block Macedonia's bid to join the EU and NATO.
Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor, who is visiting Macedonia, said Sunday in Skopje that his country could help the two countries to find a solution to the dispute if "both sides want that" and "have good will, courage and vision" to solve the problem.
Serbian President Boris Tadic, who has friendly relations with both Greece and Macedonia, has also offered to mediate.
Greece says Macedonia's name could raise potential territorial claims against its own northern region of Macedonia.
There was no immediate reaction from either country to the Slovenian offer.
