Czech Republic, US hold strategic talks

Senior Czech and U.S. foreign ministry officials are holding talks as part of a strategic dialogue between the two countries.
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon and Czech deputy Foreign Minister Tomas Pojar are leading talks Wednesday on foreign policy, security issues, defense and development.
The Czech Republic's Foreign Ministry said the situation in Afghanistan, as well as relations with Russia and the Middle East, will be high on the talks' agenda.
Last year, President Barack Obama's administration won Czech support for a new missile defense plan to replace Bush-era blueprints to base a missile defense shield in the Czech Republic and Poland.
