Veteran Selanne goes to 5th Olympic Games

Veteran forward Teemu Selanne has been selected to play for Finland's hockey team at his fifth Winter Olympics Games.
The bulk of the 23-member squad selected for the games in Vancouver in February comes from the NHL, with 15 players on the roster. Four are from Russia's KHL, and only one from another European league, the Swedish Elitserien.
Fifteen of the players selected were on the squad that won silver at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy.
Selanne has twice been the top scorer in the Olympics, and was chosen as the best player at the games in Turin. He was also an NHL Stanley Cup winner with Anaheim in 2007.
Other veterans in the squad include former Montreal captain Saku Koivu, 35, now with Selanne in Anaheim; Jere Lehtinen, 36, of the Dallas Stars, and Ville Peltonen, also 36, a national team captain and former NHL player now playing in Russia.
Finland looks solid in goal, with Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff, a Vezina Trophy winner in 2006, the likely first choice. Niklas Backstrom of Minnesota led NHL in statistics in 2007 and Antero Niittymaki, now with Tampa Bay, was brilliant in Turin.
In defense, Sami Salo, 35, of Vancouver, Kimmo Timonen, 34, of Philadelphia and Toni Lydman, 32, of Buffalo are seasoned rearguards with a combined 28 NHL campaigns under their belts.
Among the forwards, two pairs of brothers were selected -- Saku Koivu and his younger brother Mikko, and Jarkko and Tuomo Ruutu, who play for Ottawa, and Carolina respectively. ___
