8 Turkish army officers released

Turkey's state-run news agency says eight army officers believed to have been surveying an area near the house of a senior official of the Islamic-oriented government have been released from custody.
The officers were detained after two of them were allegedly caught monitoring an area near Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc's home on Dec. 19. Authorities also searched a top secret army unit where the officers allegedly worked.
The Anatolia agency says five officers were released late Tuesday and three early yesterday.
