French women return home from Dominican prison

Two French women who were imprisoned on drugs trafficking charges in the Dominican Republic have returned home after being pardoned by the president of the Caribbean country.
Sarah Zaknoun and Celine Faye say they are innocent of charges that led to an eight-year prison term. President Leonel Fernandez granted them a pardon on Christmas Eve.
French Secretary of State for Cooperation Alain Joyandet arrived with the women at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport Wednesday.
He says French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy played a vital role in winning the release.
The women were arrested in June 2008 while trying to board a flight to Paris carrying six kilograms (more than 13 pounds) of cocaine, newspaper Clave Digital reported.
