Wrestling coach killed in southern Russia

An Interior Ministry spokesman says that a wrestling coach has been shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in a volatile sourthern region.
Mark Tolchinsky of the ministry's branch in the province of Dagestan says coach Ismail Suleimanov was attacked late Wednesday in the provincial capital Makhachkala as he walked out of a sports facility after a training session.
He said Thursday that two gunmen sprayed Suleimanov with automatic gunfire from a passing vehicle, killing him on the spot. Suleimanov was the coach of the province's wrestling team.
Dagestan is located east of Chechnya. Chechnya and other provinces in Russia's restive North Caucasus have remained mired in violence stemming from wars between separatist Chechen rebels and the Russian government.
