Yemen: Al-Qaida suspect arrested

Yemeni officials say six Somalis have been arrested south of the capital _ including one man suspected of being a member of al-Qaida.
The Yemeni interior ministry said the men were arrested Thursday during a security raid about 215 miles (345 kilometers) south of Sana'a. It was not clear why the others were arrested. But many Somalis cross the Gulf of Aden illegally to reach Yemen and the richer Gulf countries beyond.
Yemen _ the ancestral homeland of Osama bin Laden _ is an impoverished nation on the southern tip of the Arabian peninsula which is fighting local rebels and al-Qaida terrorism.
The terror network is gaining a foothold in Yemen and in even more chaotic Somalia.
