Kerik ordered to stay in jail until trial

A federal appeals court has rejected a request by former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik to be free while he awaits his corruption trial.
The ruling came after arguments Wednesday in which Kerik's lawyers asked the court to overturn an order revoking his bail. Judge Reena Raggi said the court would have to see a clear legal error.
A lower court judge had said Kerik wrongly shared secret pretrial information with a supporter.
Kerik has pleaded not guilty to accepting renovations to his co-op in exchange for recommending a company that sought business with New York City.
Kerik won glowing reviews for his leadership after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. He was later nominated to lead the federal Homeland Security agency but withdrew as corruption allegations mounted.
