Britain to use university performance technology

British athletes could benefit from research by three universities into performance-enhancing technology.
UK Sport is consulting Imperial College London, Queen Mary University and Loughborough University on the development of computer modeling tools and smart training devices.
The 8.5 million pound ($14 million) project is designed to improve British performances at the 2012 London Olympics and other events.
The program involves the creation of miniature sensors to monitor aspects of physiological performance.
These include wireless nodes to measure biochemical information, heart rate, activity of the brain, heart and muscles, joint speed and contact forces.
