Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Typhoon Mirinae is not expected to make landfall Thursday but the storm is intensifying as it tracks westward in the Western Pacific. Expect dangerous surf and intense downpours over the region.
Atmospheric conditions are favorable for the storm to strengthen and reach category 2 strength with winds between 96-110 mph (154-177 kph).
Another area of low pressure to the east will remain under supervision as it has low potential for tropical storm development.
To the north, the remnants of Lupit will continue pushing northeastward toward Alaska. Higher pressure will build in behind this system and allow for mild weather over the countries surrounding the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea.
Tokyo will see a few lingering clouds.
Mild conditions will also stretch over most of China. Shanghai and Beijing will be sunny, while Hong Kong will remain hot with highs in the upper 20s(C).
A small trough of lower pressure will push moisture over the Korean Peninsula, which may kick up scattered thunderstorms over Seoul.
In Australia, a high pressure system spinning east will push moisture over New South Wales. Expect light and scattered showers to persist over Sydney. The rest of the country will see warm and mild conditions.
