4 injured in attack on Greek police station

Gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a suburban Athens police station with automatic weapons late Tuesday, wounding four people, authorities said.
Two officers were seriously wounded in the attack, which occurred at around 10:00 p.m. (1900 GMT) in the Agia Paraskevi area, north of the Greek capital, police said. Two other people were hospitalized with less serious injuries, but it wasn't immediately clear if they were also police officers.
Two men on a motorcycle stopped and opened fire on police officers standing outside the station before driving away, authorities said.
Greece is battling a surge in violence by anarchist and far-left militant groups, that flared since riots broke out in December. The riots were triggered by the fatal shooting of a teenage boy by police. The country's new Socialist government has promised to crack down on the militant groups that have stepped up attacks against police.
