Washington consultant indicted in Sudan case

A Washington consultant has been indicted for allegedly conspiring to violate U.S. economic sanctions against Sudan.
A federal indictment unsealed Tuesday said Robert Cabelly brokered business contracts and transactions benefiting Sudan without the approval of the U.S. government.
Cabelly is accused of operating as an intermediary between the Sudanese government and a foreign oil company and of collecting money from each.
He allegedly advised Sudan on economic development of its oil resources and its government-controlled airline industry.
Cabelly is charged with violating sanctions regulations, money laundering, passport fraud and for making a false statement to the Treasury Department.
