Iceland reports first death from swine flu

Icelandic health officials have reported the country's first death from swine flu.
Iceland's Directorate of Health said Monday that an 18-year-old disabled woman has died after being admitted to a hospital in the capital Reykjavik 11 days ago.
It was not immediately clear whether the woman had a pre-existing medical condition that may have contributed to her death.
As of Oct. 3 the directorate says it has seen a total of 323 cases of laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus in Iceland. But numbers have spiked in recent weeks.
The directorate says the virus is adding considerably to the work of the tiny North Atlantic nation's health care service and has resulted in a "a huge drop" in attendance at some schools around the capital.
