2 detained in France on suspected al-Qaida links

Police say two brothers suspected of links to al-Qaida's North African operations have been detained in southeast France.
A police official says the men are suspected of being in contact with al-Qaida in Islamic Maghreb, or AQIM, primarily via e-mail. The men are French and are aged 25 and 32.
The official says they were detained Thursday in Vienne and were to be handed over Friday to the DCRI domestic intelligence agency. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
Police searched the suspects' apartments and seized their computers. The arrest is part of a French judge's probe into suspected terrorist links.
AQIM regularly targets Algerian government forces and occasionally attacks foreigners.
