German freedom train arrives in Prague

A train that once carried East Germans refugees to freedom has arrived in Prague to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the trip that helped spark the fall of communism.
Former West German foreign minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher on Wednesday recalled when some 5 thousand East Germans packed the garden of the West German embassy in Prague, seeking refuge.
Genscher struck a deal with East German authorities to allow them to board the train to West Germany on Sept. 30, 1989, a move that helped pave the way for the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Later that year, communist regimes throughout Eastern Europe began falling in a wave of peaceful revolutions.
Genscher says at the German embassy in Prague that "European nations were never as close as they were then."
