Beckham leads Galaxy past Toronto FC 2-0

David Beckham scored once and assisted on another goal to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-0 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday night.
The Galaxy remained two points behind Houston for the Western Conference lead and are third in the MLS with 41 points. The top team in each conference and the clubs that have the next six highest point totals qualify for the playoffs.
Toronto is tied with New England for fourth in the East with 34 points, two behind D.C. United for the eighth and final playoff berth.
Beckham scored in the ninth minute with a left-foot strike from 17 yards.
Chivas USA 0, Sounders 0
At Seattle, Zach Thornton shut out the Seattle Sounders for the third straight time, helping Chivas USA to a scoreless draw.
Both teams earned a point to keep them in the playoff mix. Seattle has 38 points, while Chivas has 37.
Thornton finished with five saves on 14 Seattle shots.
Kasey Keller had his ninth shutout of the season for the Sounders, who went scoreless at home for the fourth straight game. Seattle has gone 404 minutes since its last home goal in a 2-1 victory against Houston on July 11.
Wizards 3, FC Dallas 2
At Kansas City, Jimmy Conrad atoned for two defensive mistakes with an 80th-minute goal to help the Wizards to their first home win since mid-June.
Kansas City trailed 2-1 after 75 minutes, but Josh Wolff equalized in the 77th and Conrad's header three minutes later gave the Wizards their first home victory since a 3-1 win over New England on June 12. Dallas has won just once in its last five games.
Dynamo 3, Real Salt Lake 2
At Houston, Brad Davis scored in the 81st minute for the victory against 10-man Real Salt Lake.
The win helped Houston take the MLS lead over Columbus by a point. RSL, meanwhile, had its three-game unbeaten streak snapped and missed a chance to climb into a share of fourth place in the Western Conference.
