Morris, among 1st AP female photographers, dies

Mary Morris Lawrence, one of The Associated Press' first female photographers, has died. She was 95.
According to a death notice placed in the San Francisco Chronicle, Lawrence died Aug. 12 at her home in Oakland. A cause of death was not listed.
The Chicago native joined the AP in New York on November 16, 1936.
Lawrence worked for AP for three-and-a-half years before leaving in 1940 to work for the New York tabloid PM.
She went on to make a name for herself photographing Hollywood stars, including Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey Bogart. Her work appeared in magazines such as Look, Life and Mademoiselle.
