Art Taipei features Southeast Asia art

Southeast Asian art will be on display at the Art Taipei 2009 from August 28 to September 1 at the Taipei World Trade Center.
Many art collectors have recently shown a preference for Southeast Asian art because of its distinctive style and reasonable prices. In April 2008, an auction held in Hong Kong, rated Southeast Asian modern and contemporary art up by 85%.
Southeast Asia has become a fast developing area for the international art industry. I Nyoman Masriadi, a contemporary artist from Indonesia, has created a new record in terms of the number of times his creations have been auctioned off in international auctions.
At the Art Taipei 2009, visitors will enjoy artworks from Galeri Canna, a major art gallery in Indonesia, creations of artists Suraji (in the picture), Catur, Binaprasetyo, and EddiE haRA. Langgeng Gallery will show the new creations of Sigit Santoso, Sugijo Dwiharso, and Filippo Sciascia. Galerie Joaqui will exhibit Penuliar Assur's work with its strong realist style and Rubio Chinita's work on children at play.
