Passions high at Moscow court over lesbian wedlock

The debate over whether to allow a lesbian couple to marry in Russia has sparked an angry exchange inside a Moscow courtroom while outside the women in question locked lips to protest a holdup in proceedings.
Homosexuality is decriminalized in Russia but there is little support for gay rights.
The court postponed Wednesday hearing a complaint from the gay couple over a refusal to allow them to marry, citing their failure to appear. The couple, Irina Fedotova-Fet and Irina Shipitko, arrived 10 minutes after the hearing ended.
Their lawyer, Nikolai Alexeyev, protested the postponement, telling Judge Natalya Zhuravlyova "the way you conduct a hearing is a disgrace."
When they eventually turned up, Fedotova-Fet and Shipitko kissed for the cameras.
