Dream continue hot streak with win over Monarchs

Iziane Castro Marques scored 30 points and Angel McCoughtry added 20 to help the Atlanta Dream beat the Sacramento Monarchs 103-83 on Tuesday for their eighth victory in the past 10 games.
Sancho Lyttle added 13 points and Erika de Souza 12 for Atlanta, which improved to 15-12 and reclaimed sole possession of second place in the WNBA's Eastern Conference. Shalee Lehning had 10 assists as the Dream shot 55.6 percent.
It was the second time in the two-year franchise history that Atlanta had reached 100 points.
Rebkkah Brunson scored 15 points for Sacramento, which had won four of its past five games. Nicole Powell and DeMaya Walker added 13 each for the Monarchs and Ticha Penicheiro added 11 assists.
Shock 90, Sun 70
At Uncasville, Connecticut, Katie Smith scored 19 points as Detroit moved closer to a playoff spot with a win over Connecticut.
Detroit entered the contest one game out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Shock have won three straight.
Deanna Nolan added 17 points and four assists for Detroit, which shot 55 percent from the field (33-for-60) and 80 percent from 3-point range (8-for-10).
Sandrine Gruda led the Sun with 19 points.
Storm 78, Mystics 68
At Seattle, Janell Burse scored 14 points and Sue Bird added 13 to help Seattle shoot its way to a win over the Mystics.
Seattle went on a 31-9 run early on to turn the game into a rout. The Storm hit five 3-pointers during the spurt and took a 39-16 advantage midway through the second quarter. They led 47-24 at the half.
Monique Currie and Marissa Coleman each had 13 points to lead Washington (13-15), which remained in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Washington cut the deficit to 14 in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer.
The Storm remained two games in front of third place Los Angeles in the Western Conference.
Sparks 75, Sky 63
At Los Angeles, Candace Parker scored 21 points, and Lisa Leslie had 21 points and 12 rebounds as Los Angeles pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Chicago for its sixth consecutive victory.
DeLisha Milton-Jones added 12 points and Parker grabbed eight rebounds, just missing her WNBA-leading 10th double-double.
Shyra Ely scored 16 points and Candice Dupree added 13 points for Chicago, which lost its third in a row and fourth in six games.
The Sparks improved to 9-3 this month, including 6-3 at home, as they continue their push for home-court advantage in the playoffs. They have seven games remaining, including five at Staples Center.
