Pachuca and Saprissa winners in Champions League

Mexico's Pachuca and Saprissa of Costa Rica had their first wins in the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday
Ulises Mendivil scored either side of halftime in Pachuca's lopsided, 5-0 win over Metapan of El Salvador in Group A, while in Group C, Saprissa defeated the Puerto Rico Islanders 3-1.
Damian Alvarez of Argentina put Pachuca ahead 1-0 in the 12th minute and Mendivil scored in the 19th and 55th to stretch the lead to 3-0. Gregorio Torres added another in the 85th and Luis Montes sealed the win in the final minute.
Pachuca has three points after two games in Group A, while Metapan has lost both its matches.
The Islanders took a surprising 1-0 lead in 25th minute with a goal by defender Domenic Mediate at San Jose, Costa Rica.
Jairo Arrieta leveled the scores in the 34th with a driving, long-range shot that beat Islanders keeper Mike Behonick. Midfielder Walter Centeno made it 2-1 six minutes later and Armando Alonso wrapped up the scoring in the 48th.
Saprissa has three points from its first two games, while the Puerto Rican club has lost both of its opening matches.
