Poland's unemployment up slightly in July

Poland's jobless rate rose slightly to 10.8 percent in July from 10.7 percent the month before, the government statistical office said Tuesday.
The Central Statistical Office said 1.67 million of the nation's 38 million residents were out of a job at the end of July, compared to 1.66 million jobless in May.
July is the first month since March that the unemployment has risen. In March it hit a high of 11.2 percent due to the global financial crisis.
Since then it has been inching down due to a seasonal increase in farming, construction and forestry jobs.
Before the worst of the financial crisis, in October, the jobless rate was 8.8 percent.
