Taipei, Aug. 25 (CNA) Taiwan's share prices closed 0.42 percent lower on Tuesday, trailing Wall Street's overnight fall and a weak showing by regional stock markets, particularly China's stock market, which tumbled 3 percent on the same day.
Reversing the previous day's gains, the weighted index, the market's key barometer, dropped 28.84 points to close at 6,809.41.

A total of 2.95 billion shares changed hands on thin market turnover of NT$84.64 billion (US$2.57 billion).
Seven of the eight major stock categories lost ground, with textile stocks and banking and financial issues moving down the most at 1.9 percent. Only one major stock category - cement - gained ground, with cement issues moving up 0.2 percent.
Losers outnumbered gainers 1,376 to 856, with 185 stocks remaining unchanged.
