TV producer Valerio Lazarov dies in Spain

Private television channel Telecinco says its Romanian-born founding director, Valerio Lazarov, one of Spanish television's most successful producers, has died. He was 73.
Telecinco cites a son of Lazarov as saying the producer died at his home in Madrid on Tuesday from natural causes.
The TV station has opened a condolence page on its Web site.
Lazarov was seen as one of the innovators of modern television entertainment in Spain and Romania. He is credited with producing and introducing dozens of successful programs for Spanish National Television in the 1970s and for Spain's Telecinco between 1985 and 1994.
He was born in Birland, Romania, but had Spanish nationality since 1972.
