SAfrica: Striking 2010 workers reject wage offer

A union official says striking construction workers at 2010 World Cup stadiums have rejected a wage deal made by employers.
National Union of Mineworkers negotiator Bhekani Ngcobo says workers will not accept an 11.5 percent raise offered by employers.
He says the union has lowered their demands from 13 percent to 12 percent.
Ngcobo said "the strike is still on" but that he hopes an agreement will be reached at a meeting with employers and mediators Tuesday.
The strike, which began Wednesday, is threatening to derail already tight schedules for construction projects across South Africa. The projects are supposed to be completed by December.
