The aboriginal people of Taiwan have long been known for their hospitality and their great talent in art. Many aboriginal villages are also renowned for their beautiful landscape, in places like Alishan and Sun Moon Lake. To explore the rich tourist resources to be found at aboriginal villages, the Cabinet-level Council of Indigenous Peoples has designed 12 holiday packages for tourist groups of around 20 to 30 people.

The 12 travel routes cover most of the aboriginal tribes in Taiwan, even the most distant one on the offshore Orchid Island. Visitors will be able to visit local artists or watch authentic aboriginal performances, cultural programs or best scenic attractions through the locally provided guide service. Most of these travel routes are designed as a two-day visit, but there are also two 3-day trips and one 1-day trip. The costs for the 12 trips range from NT$ 5,200 to NT$ 7,200 per person.

Depending on the contents of each trip, the 12 travel routes are all given a special name rather than calling each route by its destination. Most of the 12 routes will go through more than one aboriginal village, and some trips will cover as many as three different aboriginal tribes.

The 12 holiday packages are: Seeking Princess Balen, (a 2-day trip to villages of the Rukai tribe at Sandimen, Tawu and Wutai in Pingtung County); Seeking the black dwarf of Paiwan, (a 2-day trip in Pingtung County to the historic site of Shihmen battlefield where the Paiwan fought the Japanese in 1878 and the alleged relic site of a black dwarf popular in Paiwan myths); Seeking Taiwan's Titanic (a 2-day trip to villages of the Tsou tribe at Laiji and Leye, Chiayi County, visiting Titanic Cliff – a arrow-shaped cliff in a similar shape to the bow of a ship, and visiting Fencihu Station of Alishan Mountain Railroad and the preserved site of the 921 earthquake in Caoling, Nantou County); A trip to the blue village (a 3-day trip to villages of the Tsou tribe at Chashan, Shanmei, Lichia, Tefuya and Tapang, and visiting local attractions of Tanayiku Ecological Park, Lichia Waterfall, traditional religious centers of Tapang and Tefuya, and a coffee plantation in Leye Village); Discovering Bakulasi (a 2-day trip to villages of Bunun tribe in Nantou County; visiting Damaluwan Tourist Information Center, listening to unique musical performances of the Bunun tribe's "singing eight-part harmony", visiting Pakulas Estate, Aliman Estate, Jesukong Farm, and Yiminta Estate); Son of the rock and tree -Sediq Balai ( a 2-day trip to village of Sediq tribe in Nantou County); The most Mysterious Saisyat tribe (a 2-day trip to villages of Saisyat tribe in Miaoli County); When Jesus met with ancestor's spirits (a 1-day trip to villages of Atayal tribe in Taoyuan County); The Bagalan dancing night ( a 2-day trip to villages of Amis tribe, Truku tribe and Sediq tribe in Hualien County); Learning from the land (a 2-day trip to villages of the Bunin tribe in Hualien County); A cultural journey through eastern Taiwan (a 2-day trip to villages of the Puyuma tribe, Amis tribe and Kavalan tribe in Taitung County); and Waiting for flying fish (a 2-day trip to villages of the Tau tribe in Orchid Island).
