The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has invited 2015 Miss World Philippines, Hillarie Parung, to attend the Asia-Pacific Culture Day event in November, as part of its ongoing effort to promote the government’s “New Southbound Policy,” as well as the nation’s tourism.
Now in its fifth year, the Asia-Pacific Culture Day, organized by the MOFA since 2012, is an event designed to showcase a variety of dance, music as well as food from across the Asia-Pacific region.
While the government has just announced earlier this month the expansion of the nation’s e-visa program to include nationals from nine more countries, one of them the Philippines, the next step to boost Taiwan’s tourism was taken when the MOFA announced Friday their plans to welcome Miss World Philippines 2015, Hillarie Parung, to join in on the cultural event.
The 25-year-old Hillarie Parung was crowned Miss World Philippines in last year’s national beauty pageant and represented the Philippines in Miss World 2015 pageant in China.
By inviting Hillarie Parung, the ministry said that hopefully the people of the Philippines can see Taiwan as a safe, convenient, and diversified travel destination, and further boost their willingness to visit the island.
The two-day event will be held on Saturday, November 5th at Taipei Main Station.
