Sisters advance to Round 16 at French Open

Taiwan’s Chan sisters, Chan Yung-jan and Chan Hao-ching, on Sunday defeated their British opponents at the French Open women’s doubles, 6-3, 6-2, and advanced to the Round of 16.

In the Round of 32 matchup, the third-seeded Chan sisters and the British duo, Jocelyn Rae and Anna Smith, held their respective serves until the sisters broke serve in the eighth game to lead 5-3 in the first set. The Chan sisters then held serve in the next game to win the set, 6-3.

The Chan sisters raced to 4-0 lead in the second set before their opponents held serve in the fifth game and broke serve in the next to reduce the gap to 4-2.

The sisters broke back in the seventh game. In the eighth game, the British duo fought off two match points and forced two break points at the sisters’ serve before yielding to the pressure by hitting the third match point out.
