Taipei, Aug. 19 (CNA) The number of mobile Internet users in Taiwan is increasing, although slow Internet speed remains their biggest concern, according to a survey published Tuesday by the state-funded Taiwan Network Information Center. The study found that 9.88 million Taiwanese, or 47.27 percent of local residents aged over 12, used mobile Internet between November 2013 and April 2014, marking a steady increase from 41.13 percent in a survey carried out last year and a jump from 25.91 percent in 2012. Some 60.79 percent of the respondents said they are "satisfied" with their use of mobile Internet, while 25.41 percent said they are "dissatisfied" when using a mobile network. Another 7.33 percent of the respondents said they are "very dissatisfied" with their mobile network, with only 4.43 percent expressing "very satisfied" and 2.04 percent answering "no comment." Asked to identify their main concerns about their mobile network, 66.72 percent of the respondents chose "slow speed," followed by "unstable connection" (50.83 percent), "weak signal" (37.69 percent) and "expensive mobile fees" (13.27 percent). The survey was based on 3,134 valid samples collected May 5-26 via telephone and had a margin of error of plus or minus 1.3 percent. (By Jeffrey Wu)
