Concert in Malaysia to promote Taiwan literature, music

Taipei, July 13 (CNA) A concert will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August to promote Taiwanese literature and music in the South Asian country. The Taiwan Literature and Music Night will feature Taiwan-born Malaysian singer Freya Lim and Taiwanese singers Maggie Chiang and Peter Pan, according to the Ministry of Culture, which is organizing the event jointly with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia. The singers will perform songs that express the beauty of Chinese-language literature, the ministry said. Among the songs selected are "Dan Yuan Ren Chang Jiu" (Wishing We Last Forever) by late Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng, "Hong Dou" (Red Bean) by Chinese singer Faye Wong, and "Dong Feng Po" (East Wind Breaks) by Taiwanese singer Jay Chou, according to Malaysia media. The concert will be held in the Plenary Hall at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Aug. 2. Tickets to the concert will be distributed free of cost. (By Christie Chen)
