JOHANNESBURG (AP) -- Returning New Zealand captain Richie McCaw says he's fully recovered from a knee injury for Saturday's Rugby Championship decider, and the way his team deals with an expected early onslaught from the desperate Springboks will be key to deciding the test at Ellis Park.

Of the opening 15 minutes at one of rugby's most intimidating grounds, McCaw says "we've talked about that."

South Africa needs to win with four tries and shut down top-ranked New Zealand to steal the title.

McCaw also assured reporters at Ellis Park that he was fully fit after a left knee injury ruled him out of the recent wins over South Africa and Argentina.

The skipper said on Friday "actually the knee's pretty good. I wouldn't play if I didn't think it was 100 (percent)."
