Taipei, Sept. 19 (CNA) The Formosa Show, an annual art and design event in London, opened Thursday to promote Taiwan's creative talent. The work of Taiwanese designers, including 18 aspiring designers, is now on show at the event, which was first launched in 2010 as part of the London Design Festival, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Culture. Among the designs on display are a chic-looking candle stand and coat hanger, insect-shaped jewelry and a shoulder bag that can be transformed into a table. The Taiwanese participants in the show include London-based knitwear designer Apu Jan, whose spring and summer collection was presented recently at London Fashion Week, and Wu Li-chu, who is known for her jewelry designs of silver and paper. The show, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and Britain's Creative Enterprise Organization, will run until Sept. 22 at the Candid Arts Trust Gallery. The London Design Festival, which is being held Sept. 14-22, attracted over 300,000 visitors in 2012. (By Christie Chen)
