Gremio says it has signed Argentine striker Hernan Barcos from fellow Brazilian club Palmeiras, which will receive four players and about $3 million in return.

The players coming to Palmeiras are defender Vilson, striker Leandro and midfielders Leo Gago and Rondinelly. Bolivian striker Marcelo Moreno was initially included in the list but rejected the move Friday.

Vanderlei Luxemburgo's Gremio is led by former Brazil midfielders Ze Roberto and Elano.

Both clubs will play in this year's Copa Libertadores, but Palmeiras _ the Brazilian team with most national titles _ will play in Brazil's second division this year.

Barcos was Palmeiras' biggest star since transferring from Liga de Quito last year, but said he would be willing the leave the club to gain more exposure and play for Argentina's national team again.
