Former Japan international Naoki Matsuda died Thursday, two days after suffering a cardiac arrest during training, according to Japanese news agency Kyodo. He was 34.

Matsuda had been in critical condition after collapsing Tuesday during practice with his club Matsumoto Yamaga.
