Puerto Rico baseball player faces child pornography charges

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Federal authorities in Puerto Rico have arrested a minor league baseball player on charges of child pornography involving a 13-year-old girl.

Officials say Hector Jomar Ponce Rijos is accused of having sex with the girl and requesting sexually explicit photographs and videos from her.

Ponce is a Double-A baseball player for the Montaneses de Utuado and once played for Puerto Rico's national team.

He was arrested on Thursday at his house in the northern town of Toa Baja. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
