The outdoor fair is jointly held by the Office of Commerce (TCOOC) and French Office in Taipei. It has made guest appearances in Tokyo and Moscow before, and Taipei has become the third city to be able to taste what the Market has to offer.

Founded in 1570, Strasbourg Christmas Market is the oldest of its kind in France. The marketplace this year will comprise 15 French-style cabins, offering delicatessen foods, confectionery, mulled wine, beer, and crafted products.

The event presents an opportunity to boost cultural exchange as the market will also showcase handicrafts from Taipei’s traditional commercial districts known for their handmade goods, said Lin Chung-chieh, the Commissioner of Department of Economic Development.

While 3,000 tickets have been sold on the first day more are available for purchase online, the three-week event expects to welcome some 500,000 visitors.
